As the Lithuanian national football team enters a streak of failures, the team's fans suggest that the LFF should thank the supporters for their loyalty by allowing free entry to the upcoming World Cup qualifying match in Kaunas against Malta.
In a petition created by a fan (which can be signed here), it is stated:
„After the dreadful results of the national football team, I decided to see how the LFF is managing to sell tickets for the matches against Malta and the Netherlands in September.
Against the Netherlands, ticket prices are greedy (33–109 euros), but that can still be understood – spectators will come to see not our players, but the stars arriving for the first time (although personally, much bigger stars for me were Seedorf, Kluivert, Stam, Van der Saar, Davids' generation). Maybe fans will come from other countries, so let LFF earn some money.
But the situation against Malta is completely different. According to the tickets currently sold, the stadium will be empty, as no fan will go to watch a match categorized among the weakest European national teams. And they will still have to pay 15–91 euros.
I see no other way than for the LFF to make a logical and sensible decision – to allow spectators into the stadium for free, thus apologizing for the dreadful scene on the field and at the same time increasing the chances of defeating Malta and securing a salvaging fourth place in the group.“
