At the World Club Cup tournament in the USA, Miami's "Inter" forward Lionel Messi was asked to comment on his eternal rivalry with Portugal's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I have great respect and admiration for the Portuguese and his career that he continues. The forward still competes at the highest level.
We competed on the field, and each of us wanted to be better.
However, off the field, we are just regular guys. We are not friends because we don't spend time together, but we have always maintained immense respect for each other," said L. Messi.
The Argentine has actively competed with C. Ronaldo for over 15 years and has managed to surpass his rival in the number of "Ballon d'Or" awards – 8 to 5.
