Mid-table encounter in A league ended in a draw

Another match of the 15th round of the "TOPsport A league" took place in Žemaitija, where Telšiai's "Džiugas" faced off against "Panevėžys." After restoring their lead in the second half, the team from Telšiai, along with the players from Panevėžys, shared the points – the duel ended with a score of 1:1 (0:1).

The match was dangerously initiated by the players from Panevėžys – after a pass from Luco de Vegas, Pavle Radunović, who was caught on the ball and made a great run into the penalty area, was very close to scoring, but Marius Paukštė saved it. In the 20th minute, the goalkeeper dealt with Justinas Januševskis' attempt, but the rebound was sent into the net by Salomonas Kouadio, giving his team the lead.

Telšiai soon aimed to organize a response with a goal when Simonas Urbys shot from the air, but he failed to hit the target. At the beginning of the second half, S. Urbys distinguished himself once again with a very dangerous shot – after his long-range attempt, Vytautas Černiauskas had to strain himself.

The actively playing S. Urbys achieved his goal – after an hour of play, following a delightful pass from Frajaus Kayramani, he scored with a header to restore the lead. In the 69th minute, the footballer could have scored a double, but his low shot was stopped. In the 75th minute, M. Paukštė sent a pass to Deitonas Vinckas across the entire field – heroically saving his team was V. Černiauskas, who had left the goal.

Shortly after, the goalkeeper from Panevėžys had work to do again – this time, Davidas Martinas Anane aimed to score, and in the very next moment, Viačeslavas Kulbačiukas' long shot rattled the goal frame. As the last minute of regular play ticked down, Hirotaka Yamada committed a very rough foul, for which he saw a direct red card shown to him for his action.

After the confrontation with the table neighbors, both teams retained their positions – "Džiugas" stands fifth with 21 points, while "Panevėžys" has accumulated 19 points and is a step below.
