Football fans are eagerly awaiting the special tournament that will begin in June in the USA.
In the World Club Cup championships, 32 teams will compete, and there is no doubt that when the knockout stage arrives, some teams will be forced to settle their differences in 11-meter penalty shootouts.
As officially announced by IFAB, the rule that caused a scandal in the previous UEFA Champions League season has been changed ahead of the tournament.
At that time, in the 11-meter penalty shootout of the tournament's round of 16, referees decided not to count the successful attempt by Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez – it was determined that he had touched the ball with both feet during his shot. Diego Simeone's team capitulated in the shootout against Real and buried their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals.
The newly amended rule now states that in such cases, the player will not be penalized too strictly and, in the event of a successful initial shot, will be able to retry their attempt.
