"Žalgiris" could not overcome the Marijampolė team.

The 16th round of the "TOPsport A League" took place at the Marijampolė football arena. In an emotional and high-scoring match, the teams of "Sūduva" and "Žalgiris" shared the points with a score of 2:2 (1:1).

Right at the beginning of the meeting, Bruno Tavares threatened the hosts' goal, but for the Sūduva players' relief, the ball flew next to the rectangle.

Midway through the half, the teams exchanged goals – Nemanja Mihajlović put Žalgiris ahead, and in the 25th minute, Amar Haidara equalized with a strong and precise shot after a pass from Nauris Petkevičius.

The Marijampolė players did not reduce their pace, and Lucky Tomas had a chance to score after the equalizer, but Carlos Olsesas saved the shot to the near corner.

In the 35th minute, a forced substitution was made in the ranks of "Sūduva". Goalkeeper Giedrius Zenkevičius had to leave the field due to injury, and he was replaced by Ignas Plūkas.

Just a few minutes after the break, guest captain Ovidijus Verbickas received a pass from deep in the field, but for Donatas Vencevičius' pupils' luck, the ball flew just past the post.

In the 56th minute, A. Haidara lifted the fans from their seats for the second time that evening, as he was the first to rush to the ball deflected by C. Olsesas and put the hosts ahead.

This time, "Sūduva" players did not rejoice for long, as a few moments later Ovidijus Verbickas equalized the score with a header.

With just over 10 minutes remaining until the end of regulation time, Jurijus Kendyšas, playing in the center-back position, rattled the crossbar with a penalty kick.

The "Sūduva" players remain in 3rd place with 30 points, while the Žalgiris team has 19 points and stays in 8th place.
